Filling up the pantry

I know it's been a while since I've posted but it doesn't mean I have stopped working on stuff for Bag End! Since I last posted, I've seen The Hobbit and it shows more of Bag End so it's given me some more ideas. I actually thought I had already posted these pictures as it had been some time ago I made this food and there are even some plates. 

I went with silver plates, thinking Bilbo would have pewter plates but I may repaint them white.  They are the inside of 20 oz. pop bottle lids that I spray painted.

Some cheeses I thought Bilbo would have on hand to nibble on and for guests.

I am quite happy with how this cake came out!

 I have some more stuff already made so I'll be posting more frequently. Thanks for being patient! 

Bilbo's bed

Well, this one took a while thus the delay. Still not done as I think I am going to sew a little quilt for it.  I will have to make another one for Frodo's room but that will just have to wait.

The bed frame was made of paper, card stock and mat board.  I followed this great tutorial. Tutorial at 1inchminis.

This was before it was painted or I made the mattress out of some batting I had.

These are the finished product.  I think it turned out quite good and I had all the materials on hand already so it was basically free! 

Here fishy fishy

I had made these mostly last weekend. Chopped some wood from twigs and made the firewood holder out of hair rollers! The fireplace is just a pic I found for better ambience :)

I also made some fish. They turned out better than I thought they would! 

The tutorial I followed said they are supposed to be rainbow trout.

Not sure they look like rainbow trout but at least you can tell they are fish and they aren't too cartoony looking.  I think I might make some hanging on hooks too.

Desserts!

This weekend I tried my hand at some desserts.  They didn't turn out perfect but I think they are a good starting point!

 I made a cherry pie, apple pie, and a yellow cake.  The apple you can't really tell that's the fruit in there so I'll have to try another one where you can tell its apple.  Here is a better close up of the cake.

I don't have plates made yet so they just are on little paper plates :)

What are some other desserts that a hobbit would like?  I'm thinking just about anything but I want to try scones and the book mentions seed cake so I will look that up and try it too.

My first miniatures!

Well, here are my first handmade miniatures.  Not perfect but not too shabby. I really like how the loafs of bread turned out. The round loafs, however, didn't quite turn out how I wanted.  The baskets were made with hemp cording and mod podge. Can you guys tell what the food other than bread was there?

• I love The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books and movies.  I had run across a blog where someone had made an amazing miniature Bag End.  Found here.  I am crafty and wondered why can't I do something like that?  So I thought about it and decided I wanted to make my own dollhouse miniature Bag End.  I made this blog to share my progress if you want to follow along.  I will warn you, it will be a long journey as I am in no real hurry and I am learning everything as I go.  Since Bilbo's little house is so different from a 'normal' house, most stuff will probably be handmade.  Any tips and critiques will be welcomed.

I haven't built the structure yet and am still settling on blueprints and materials.   It will not be exactly as described in the book as a to scale model would be HUGE and I dont have the time/ money/ space for that.  It will be a mix between the movies and book representations.
